Memorial Forest Program

Woodstock Memorial Service

The memorial forest program was established in 1994 with the cooperation of the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority (UTRCA) and the City of Woodstock. We began this program to create a lasting tribute to the families we serve while also aiding with the restoration of the earth's forests. Trees are an essential part of all life; They provide shelter for wildlife, control soil erosion, provide wind protection, create shade and remove carbon dioxide while producing oxygen. The Trees that are planted each year are chosen by the UTRCA and are all natural species of the southern Ontario region. This includes Green and White Ash, Red Maple, Sugar Maple, Red Oak, Kentucky Coffee and Sycamore.

A Tree is planted in memory of each individual whom we serve, in appreciation of the trust and confidence placed in us by their family.
