JOHNSTON, Doug - With the love of his family by his side at Sakura House, Woodstock on Friday October 4, 2019. Douglas "Doug" A. Johnston of Woodstock in his 85th year. Beloved husband of Sandra A. (nee Desmond) Johnston for over 63 years. Dear father of Cynthia "Cindy" (William Jr.) Perras, Dr. James (Shelly) Johnston and Deborah Lawlor (Peter Tesluk). Loving grandfather to Kelly, Kristi, Kimberly, Tiffany, Michael, Brittnay, Conor, Logan, McKara, Reed, Rachele, Mackenzie and will always be remembered by several great grandchildren. Loved brother-in-law of Michael Desmond and Patricia Desmond. Doug was a Korean War Veteran serving with RCAF as a Navigator. He was a past coach and co-founder of the Windsor Spitfires and past coach of the Oakville Blades. He was a high school teacher, Principal, University Professor and a life educator. Doug was co-founder and agent of Century 21 Woodstock. He was a Masonic member and a Legion member. Doug lived a full life and spent it teaching the many people he surrounded himself with. His life, his legacy will live on in the many lives he touched. Friends and relatives are welcome to join the family at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 519-539-0004 on Tuesday October 8, 2019 from 6-8pm, where the funeral service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday at 11:00 am. A private interment will take place in Norfolk Oakwood Cemetery, Simcoe. If desired, memorial contributions to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or Woodstock Animal Rescue would be appreciated.
