A. Irene Thompson

Irene passed away peacefully at her home at Secord Trails Care Community, Ingersoll, on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 after a brief illness in her 99th year. Predeceased by her beloved husband, James Merton Thompson (1984). Loving mother of Marie Ball of Springfield and Janet Johnson (Bruce) of Ilderton. Proud grandmother of the late Bryan Ball (Janet), Dennis Ball (Crystal), Kevin Johnson (Janet), Doug Johnson (Susie) and Diane Spargo (Adam) . Great Grandmother of Connor, Emily, Cameron, Steven, Sam, Charlotte, Olivia, Callan, Jacob, Benny and Sarah. Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews. Irene is predeceased by her brother, Hugh Rabe and sister Frances Strickler.

Irene was a longtime resident of Woodstock, where she was an active member of the Southgate Centre and Knox United Church in Embro. She also belonged to the Woodstock Lawn Bowling Club and the Embro Legion Ladies’ Auxilliary.

Friends will be received at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, on Saturday, June 14, 2025 from 10am until 10:45am. A memorial service will follow at 11am in the funeral home chapel, with a reception to follow. Interment at North Embro Cemetery.
