Allen Thomas Robert Perry, born on February 11, 1928, in Woodstock, Ontario, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025.
Growing up as a farm boy, Allen carried the values of hard work and simplicity throughout his life. In 1961, he built the family home where he lived for sixty years. His dedication to family was evident in every detail of his life. He cherished his time spent with his children, Janet Harwood (Dave) and Murray, and adored his grandchildren, Lindsay (Kevin) Rennick, Allison (Jason) Horst, Mark (Amanda) Harwood, and Kelsey Perry. Allen was delighted to be a great-grandfather to Tucker, Aubrey, Finn, Logan, and James, each of whom brought immense joy to his life.
Allen was predeceased by his cherished wife, Lillian, in 2014, who was his world. Also, by his siblings, Sydney Perry, Jean Kitching, and Fred Perry. He is survived by many nieces and nephews, with special gratitude to Karen Perry and his cousin, Earl Clayton, for their friendship.
Allen’s professional journey began on the railroad, where he served as a Morse code operator for CN Railway. After the railroad, he began his own business repairing televisions and radios. Later in his career, as a custodian for the Woodstock library until his retirement.
A true gentleman, he possessed a love for woodworking. In his early years, he enjoyed sailing, camping, and gardening. He loved animals and feeding the birds.
Allen will be remembered for his warmth and dedication to his family.
Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will be held in the spring. If desired, memorial contributions to Operation Smile Canada or to the Oxford County Animal Rescue would be greatly appreciated.
