Anna Lorraine Sweeney (born Thompson) passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025, at Woodingford Lodge in Woodstock, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 18, 1941, in Gananoque, Ontario.

Anna is now reunited with her beloved husband, Joseph “Joe” Edward Sweeney (1938–2023), with whom she shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and devotion. Together, they built a beautiful family and countless cherished memories.

She will be forever loved and remembered by her daughter Carolyn, her son Peter (Deana), and her treasured grandchildren Jake (Jenna), Luke, Sam, Nick, and Charlie, who brought her endless pride and joy. Loving sister of Ruby, Ronald, Robert, and James Thompson, and dear sister-in-law of Paul (Joanne) Sweeney and Nancy (Frank) Murray. Anna also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends whose lives were enriched by her warmth and kindness.

Anna was predeceased by her parents Hugh and Pearl Thompson, her husband Joe, and her siblings Ruby, Rob, and Ron Thompson.

A dedicated teacher, Anna spent her career nurturing young minds with patience, kindness, and encouragement. Her career spanned 35 years, teaching every grade from one to 13. She was passionate about education and is fondly remembered by her students and colleagues for her gentle nature and the positive impact she left in the classroom. She was active in community clubs and volunteer work. Beyond her profession, she cherished her many friendships and their memories of golf, bridge, gourmet, book clubs, and traveling the world. Anna found her greatest joy in being surrounded by her family, where her love, wisdom, and steady presence created a home filled with warmth and laughter.

As we say goodbye, we celebrate a life well lived and a woman deeply loved. Anna’s legacy of love, compassion, and teaching will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Brock and Visser Funeral Home (845 Devonshire Ave., 519-539-0004) from 10 to 11 am. The funeral service will be held in the chapel at 11 am. Interment to follow alongside her beloved Joe at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.

If desired, memorial contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society, Sick Kids Hospital, or a charity of choice would be greatly appreciated and may be arranged through the funeral home.
