Alice (DeJong) Jukema passed peacefully early Saturday April 4, 2026 at Sakura House in Woodstock Ontario, surrounded by her loving husband Nicolaas, and their children Duane, Derek & Cindy.
Born June 23 1951 in Haulerwijk, Friesland, The Netherlands, Alice moved with her family to Canada at her 1st birthday, growing up in the Lower Mainland / Fraser Valley of British Columbia as the middle of 5 children. She met Nico through the church young adults when he had come to BC to work. After they married on September 24 1971 in Maple Ridge BC, they moved back to Ontario to begin their own family.
Alice had a highly motivated sense of responsibility, was an insightful planner and organizer and sought to pursue justice and truth whenever she saw a need.
She was a devoted wife and mother, and spent a great amount of time and energy to meet the needs of her family, becoming a great encourager and advocate for their futures.
Despite a debilitating workplace injury and the additional disease that would eventually overwhelm her body, she rarely complained of her pain or limitations while making the most of the time and capacity she had.
Over the years she explored dozens of hobbies and served wherever she saw the opportunity to address a need or injustice.
Alice was deeply committed to her faith in Jesus, and was very involved at her church wherever she lived.
She delighted in her family, and thoroughly loved any time she had with her children and grandchildren.
The family is grateful for the time they have had with her and for the wonderful care she received at Sakura House in Woodstock in her last weeks.
She will be dearly missed by her husband Nico, and their children and families Duane & Jennifer, Samuel, Nathan, Joel and Malachi; Derek & Amanda, Everett and Danica; Cindy & John Bloemert, Rick & Jennifer, Ethan & Holly, Kris & Emma & expected great grand-baby, and Isaac.
Alice’s legacy is in the many lives she impacted, her growing family and the memories they share.
Visitation will be 2-4pm & 6-8pm, Friday April 10, 2026 at Brock & Visser Funeral Home, Woodstock.
Service at 10am Saturday April 11, 2026 at Emmanuel Reformed Church, Woodstock Ontario.
Coffee is served at the church after the service followed by lunch with the family.
The family will hold a Family graveside service at Oxford Memorial Park Cemetery during the coffee hour, returning to join everyone for lunch.
In lieu of flowers, Alice asked that donations to be sent to the Accessibility Fund at Emmanuel Reformed Church, please call Brock and Visser Funeral home for more information 519-539-0004.
