Obituary

Editha “Bernice” Dickout (née Norman), beloved wife, loving sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026, in Woodstock, Ontario. Born September 24, 1937, Bernice grew up in Norfolk County, where she developed a deep appreciation for community and rural life, later serving as the Norfolk and Oxford County Dairy Princesses.

Bernice found great enjoyment in quilting, camping, and spending time with family and friends. She was a devoted partner to her husband Russell, with whom she shared 64 years of marriage, working alongside him and supporting him on the family farm and other adventures. She shared her love of music by singing in the choir at the Villa Nova and Salford churches, and in her later years, she and her husband Russell spent many seasons as dedicated campground hosts at MacGregor Point Provincial Park, welcoming visitors and forming lasting friendships.

She was predeceased by her husband Russell in 2024, her son Norman in 1990, and her daughter Kathryn Routliffe in 2011. She is survived by her daughters Virginia (Denis) Reilly and Sandra (Darcy) Alyea, her grandchildren Brian, Russell, Jennifer, Jill, Garrett, Sadie, and Ainsley, and her seven great-grandchildren.

A private family funeral will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Bernice may be made to Knox United Church, Embro.

She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all those who knew her.
