Berniece Joyce Coyle (nee Pettit)

Peacefully, after a day surrounded by her loving family, Berniece passed away at Sakura House on Monday evening, April 28, 2025 at the age of 87. Beloved wife of the late Wayne Coyle, who predeceased her in 2020. Cherished mother of Chris (Tami) and Jude (Rich). Treasured friend of Ian Cardiff and many others.

Berniece was raised in Delhi, Ontario, the youngest of 10 children born to the late Nathan and Gladys Pettit. She loved belonging to a large family and that love wove itself throughout her life. Her family was the centre of her world with her sisters and nieces being her closest friends.

Berniece was a proud and dedicated wife and mother, supporting Wayne and Chris in their many, many athletic endeavours. She was a longtime Raptors fan. She opened her heart and home to many of her children’s friends. She was pleased to be known as Mama Coyle. You could frequently find one or more bonus family members enjoying a holiday meal at Berniece’s table. Her apple pies were always a big draw. Her smile and laughter were irresistible.

Berniece and Wayne enjoyed camping with their young family, experiencing many of the campgrounds throughout Ontario and into the United States. In retirement, they continued their adventures in their motorhome, travelling across Canada. Berniece had a fondness for music and was especially happy when Jude was singing. She was a lover of dogs. Her devoted companion, Maggie, brought her great comfort in her last years. Berniece was well loved, and she will be greatly missed.

A celebration of Berniece’s life will be held on Sunday,, June 8, 2025 from 1-4pm at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home. The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at Sakura House for their dignified care.
