Passed away peacefully at the Woodstock Hospital, the angels carried Bertha home on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.

Bertha Helen (Morrison) Bigney was born January 27, 1929, in River John, Nova Scotia. A daughter of the late Charles Lewis and Ella Mae (Logan) Morrison.  Bertha was predeceased by her loving husband Nathan Lawrence Bigney (2003).

Bertha was the last surviving member of a family of eight children.  She leaves to mourn sister-in-law Marion Morrison (late Elwood); Nathan’s family: Shirley (late Keith) Arnold, Jo-Anne Bigney, Bernice (late Ronald Bigney), Cynthia (Ken) Langille and Leonard (Shelly) Bigney; cousins Raymond (Ada) Watt, Jimmy (Thelma) Forbes, Mary Jane (Tom) Tued, Gail (Duane) Innis, Brenda (Late Walter) Jollimore and Sherri (Steven) Muir;  special friends Iola Mackenzie, Ronnie and Norma Baillie and Lisa Owen.

Bertha is survived by many special nieces and nephews Beverly (late Michael) Arseneau, Greg (Tracy) Woodworth, Lynn Woodworth, Debby Woodworth, Betty (late Doug) Craig, Elaine (Alfie) Teasdale, Karolyn (Benny) Wong, John (Gloria) Morrison, James (Arlene) Morrison, Terry (Brenda) Morrison, Robert (Sharon) Morrison, Lu-Anne (Cary) Newell, Jack (Shirley) Harvey, Milton Harvey, Fred Harvey, Carol (Barry) Harvey Peeke, Cleo Werner and Larry (Helen) Werner.

Bertha was predeceased by her sisters Jean Kathleen (Glen) Woodworth, Florence Marie (Art) Harvey, and Beatrice Irene (Clinton Werner) (Frank) Potter; brothers Jack Sterling (Gerry)  Morrison, Charles Earl (Barbara) Morrison, James Arnold Morrison and Elwood Lewis Morrison; nephews David (Carol) Morrison, Kenneth Morrison, and Mark Werner; stepdaughter Darlene Boone and stepson Ronald Bigney.

Bertha moved to Woodstock, ON in 1948 with her family working several jobs before working 43 years at Kirsch of Canada Ltd where she made many lasting friendships.  She loved to travel across Canada to visit family and friends.  Family meant a lot to Bertha.  Bertha’s heart was always in Nova Scotia and fortunately, she was able to enjoy the summer months in River John for many years.

Family and friends will be received at Brock & Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave, Woodstock (519-539-0004) on Saturday, April 13, 2024 from 2pm to 4pm. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at 11am in the funeral home chapel.

A Celebration of Bertha’s Life will be held at a later date in River John, Nova Scotia, there, she will be laid to rest with her husband Nathan whom she missed so much.
