Betty May Elizabeth Brown, born on October 26, 1940, in Ingersoll, Ontario, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025, at Huntsville District Memorial Hospital. Betty’s life was marked by her unwavering spirit, dedication to family, and a deep commitment to her community.

Throughout her career, Betty worked at Timberland, but her contributions extended far beyond her professional endeavors. She was an active volunteer at South Gate Centre, where she played a vital role in the office and participated in various activities, embodying the spirit of service and community engagement. Additionally, her passion for community was evident in her involvement in her local churches, including Foldens Church when she was a young girl, and College Ave. United Church and Salvation Army Church as of recently.

Betty had a wide-ranging array of hobbies and interests that brought joy not only to her but also to those around her. With a love for crafts, painting, drawing, crocheting, and knitting, she embraced her creative side wholeheartedly. Betty found happiness in square dancing for many years, and she cherished writing and printing the Old Bugle newsletter, connecting with others through her words. Her love for travel was well-known, with fond memories of cruises and bus trips, alongside her enjoyment of live theatre. An avid gardener, she delighted in getting her fingers in the dirt and nurturing her flowers, creating beauty around her.

Family was at the heart of Betty's life. She is survived by her beloved partner, Ron Bergman, her daughters Nadine (Russ) Coomber, and Carla Brown, and her dear grandchildren Abbey and Olivia Coomber, who were the light of her life. Betty welcomed Ron's children into her life with open arms: Scott (Amanda), Cathy Cardy, and Dave, along with their children Tiffany (Chris) Lanford, Alli (Nate) Bergman, and Sidney Bergman. Betty will be lovingly remembered by her extended family and friends.

Betty was predeceased by her husband George Brown in 2005, her daughter Kari Lynn in 1975, and her parents Gordon and Emma Howard. The legacy of Betty May Elizabeth Brown will endure in the hearts of those who knew her, as they remember a woman who dedicated herself to her family, her community, and the things she loved.
