John Robert Force, known to family and friends as Bob, passed away suddenly on July 15, 2024 at Woodingford Lodge, Ingersoll at the age of 90. He will be sadly missed by Gloria McMillen, his friend and partner for over 30 years and by his family and friends.
Bob was a devoted family man, treasuring his role as father and grandfather of Jeanne Turner (Russell) and their children Tracey and Richard (Natalie), Mark Force (Elizabeth) and their children Adam (Dec 30, 1982 – Feb 3, 2005) and Thomas, Owen Force, Byron Force (Tina), and Darren Force (Naomi) and their children Austin, Ethan, Ocean and James. Bob was a dear brother to Betty Popovitch, Lloyd Force (late Sheila), Harry Force, Keith Force (Rosemary), and Patricia Guillemette (Jack), and is fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Preceding him in death was his wife, Dora Jean Force (nee Durling) (1994), and his brothers Carl Force (Leona) and Hubert Force (Shirley).
Bob's professional life was marked by his dedication as a longtime employee of Fisher Controls, where he served as a skilled machinist until the company's closure. His passion for craftsmanship didn't end with his professional career; Bob was a talented handyman, known for his ability to build garages from scratch and his eagerness to lend a helping hand in any renovation project. His work was not just a job but a canvas where he expressed his creativity and meticulous attention to detail.
An avid fisherman, Bob's tales of his adventures on the water were as abundant as his catches. He had a knack for storytelling that could captivate any audience. Bob loved to dance and kick up his heels to a good polka.
Bob's zest for life extended to his companion, Gloria McMillen. Together, they shared a love for music, regularly attending jamborees and soaking in melodies on most weekends. Travel was another of Bob's passions, and he cherished the opportunities to explore new places and create lasting memories with family and friends.
A Celebration of Bob’s life will take place on Saturday, August 24th , beginning at 2pm at St. Davids United Church, 190 Springbank Ave, Woodstock. For those who wish to attend, the interment of Bob’s ashes will take place, just prior to his service, at 1:00pm at Woodstock Baptist Cemetery (west side of VanSittart Ave and Devonshire Ave, enter off of Vincent St, north west quadrant)
Bob’s family expresses their deepest gratitude and thanks to the nurses and staff at Woodingford Lodge Ingersoll for the wonderful care and friendship extended to Bob during his stay.
