Brian Hamilton, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on May 5, 2024, at the age of 60. Born on August 29, 1963, in Kingston, Ontario, Brian's life was a testament to the strength and warmth of his character, despite the challenges he faced.
Brian's journey through life was marked by his deep love for his family. In 2006, he married his soulmate, Heather (nee O'Riley), and together they created a life filled with joy and laughter for Riley, Erica and her fiancé Tim Devries. Also father to Shannon; and Amanda and grandfather to her children. His role as a brother to Ken, Alan and his wife Janet, and Marilyn Gowdy and her husband the late Rick Gowdy, was filled with love and laughter. Brian was also like a son to Heather's parents, George and Shelby O'Riley, and held a special place in the hearts of the extended O'Riley family, as well as his many nieces and nephews.
He will also be fondly remembered by his numerous friends. He was predeceased by his parents Don and Audrey Hamilton. Brian's professional life as a long-haul truck driver was more than a job; it was a calling. It allowed him to travel to many places in Canada and the United States, meet new people, and take on the challenges of long-haul trucking. His colleagues and friends within the trucking community will remember him for his reliability, sense of humour, and willingness to lend a helping hand.
Beyond his work, Brian was a man of many passions. He found solace in the tranquility of gardening, the joy of cooking, and the thrill of hunting. His love for boating, fishing, camping, and gathering around campfires with loved ones reflected his deep connection to nature and his adventurous spirit. Brian also found a source of comfort and happiness with his beloved pets Ted and Bailey. A community-minded individual, Brian was a proud supporter of the Sweaburg Lion's Club. His generous spirit and willingness to help others made their tasks much easier and left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Mental health challenges can grab you and squeeze you so hard that you have nothing left to give. We are all going to miss Brian’s love, passion and warm character. Until we meet again, we love you.
