It is with profound sadness that the family of Brian Andrew Holden announces his passing. Brian was born on January 8, 1967, in Ingersoll, Ontario, proudly sharing a birthday with Elvis Presley, a fact he always enjoyed sharing with anyone, into the loving home of George and Mary Holden. The youngest of ten children, Brian grew up surrounded by the energy, closeness, and laughter of a big family, a gift he cherished throughout his life. It is so difficult and utterly unjustified to put a person's entire life and his meaning to everyone he loved and who loved him into a few words, a couple of paragraphs, but we shall endeavor to do just that. As a boy, Brian was endlessly active, always in motion, and eager to take on anything that involved competition or play. He loved all sports and even mastered the unique skill of riding a unicycle, a talent he proudly shared throughout his life. On August 26, 1989, Brian married his best friend and partner, Melissa. Together they built a life full of devotion, humour, and unwavering love. Their three children, Andrew (Lex), Jessica, and Brittny (Eric), were the pride and joy of Brian’s life. He delighted in watching them grow, celebrating their accomplishments, and supporting them in every step they took. This was only expanded by the addition of his five grandchildren, Klair, Kohbin, Emma, Kwynny and George. Brian worked at Atlantic Packaging for 25 years, where he became a proud and committed union man. His time there shaped many lifelong friendships and warm memories. After the plant closed, Brian transitioned to Trackless Vehicles in Courtland, taking on a clerical shipping role that suited his steady, hardworking nature. Always ready to make a friendly wager for a coffee over Philly game especially with a Leaf fan. Brian was a die-hard fan and watched every game with an eager anticipation of a win. Some of Brian’s happiest days were spent in Grand Bend, enjoying time on the boat and at the trailer with his family. These sunny afternoons, quiet mornings, and moments of laughter were among his most treasured memories. Brian deeply loved animals, especially his dogs, who were constant companions. His little Princess rarely left his side and they miss him dearly. Drinking a cup of tea, watching documentaries, playing video games or discussing the politics of the world filled his evenings and weekends. A life long dream was realized last year with a trip to Scotland that culminated in Andrew's wedding. Memories he loved to share and treasure. Predeceased by his parents, George and Mary, brothers; Don, Doug and Pat.
Brian is survived by his beloved wife Melissa, his children Andrew (Lex), Jessica, and Brittny (Eric), 5 grandchildren, Klair, Kohbin, Emma, Kwynny, and George, and his six loving sisters Trish, Marg, Marie, Pauline and Helen, whom he cherished. He leaves behind a large, family who will forever remember his humour, loyalty, and gentle heart.
In keeping with Brian’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A celebration of life will be held on Monday November 24, 2025, 1 till 4 at Unifor Local 636, 126 Beale Street, Woodstock. In honour of Brian, no flowers please.
