On Sunday January 25, 2026 after a very long battle with Lewy Body Dementia, Brian (Moe) Moreland was surrounded by love as he took his last breath. He will be sadly missed by the love of his life of 52 years, Nora Moreland, His children Rob (Lisa) and Teresa (Jamie) and his treasured grandchildren Kassandra, Trenton, and Logan McLellan and Connor and Caleb Moreland. As well as his furry companion, Pebbles.

His love for hockey was a defining passion throughout his life, from Minor hockey through to Senior hockey. Brian was a member of the 1968-69 Ontario Championship Woodstock Junior C Navy Vets. He continued playing after Junior in the Thursday night industrial league, the Ingersoll league, the Legion oldtimers and the Huff and Puff league. He retired from hockey at age 60, as a member of the Rusty Anchors. His love for the ice extended beyond his own playing days, as he proudly followed Rob through his hockey career and Teresa through her figure skating. He also loved watching his granddaughter Kassandra through her figure skating, cheer and karate, and all his grandsons (Trenton, Logan, Connor and Caleb) through their hockey. He was a familiar and beloved face at the rink.
In the summer, Brian could be found on the golf course, enjoying the camaraderie and challenges that the game brings. Brian’s passion for sports shone through as a loyal fan of The Toronto Blue Jays and the Chicago Black Hawks. His dedication as a fan mirrored his steadfast devotion he showed to his family.
Brian and Nora shared many memorable trips together over the years, creating lasting memories with hockey teams, family and friends.
Brian proudly served in the Canadian army. He was first stationed in Fredericton, Gage Town, Camp Borden and then Calgary with the Fort Garry Horse.
After serving in the army, Brian had dedicated his time working for Kelsey Hayes and then (Eaton/Timberjack) John Deere for 37 years, until the company moved to the USA.
As we say farewell to Brian, we celebrate a life well lived, full of purpose, joy and love. Brian will forever be remembered by all those blessed to have known him.
