Brian Leonard Samways, a beloved member of the Woodstock community, passed away on February 24, 2026, at Victoria Hospital. Born on December 25, 1952, in Woodstock, Ontario, Brian graced the world for over seven decades, leaving a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Brian was the proud father of two children, Christine Schell (Greg) and Brian (Theresa Kelly). He was also a dedicated grandfather to his seven grandchildren: Hayley (Jake), Leland, Noah, Zoe, Beth, and Lincoln, and he held a special place in his heart for his great-grandson, Waylon.
He is survived by his siblings, Shirley (Kevin) Van de Byl, Glen Samways, and Rosie (Bob) Blakely. He also leaves behind sister-in-laws Sue Samways and Brenda Samways, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will forever remember his warmth and kindness.
Brian was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Flora Samways, and his siblings Gord, Dorothy (Harold) Brayley, and Fred.
Brian led a life filled with passion, stating, "I got what I wanted out of life." He had a love for fishing and was an avid hockey enthusiast, specifically the London Knights and Toronto Maple Leafs.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brock & Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock (519-539-0004). A funeral service celebrating Brian's life will take place the following day, Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel.
