Cecilly Frances Hardwick
August 10, 1941 – January 5, 2026
Cecilly Frances Hardwick was born in Woodstock, Ontario, to Agnes and Ken Hardwick. She was a proud graduate of the Hamilton General Hospital School of Nursing, a title she carried with pride throughout her life.
Cecilly shared a loving marriage of sixty-three years with her husband, Brian. Together they moved to Hamilton, settling in the outskirt community of Woodburn, where they raised their family. She was the devoted mother of Shawn (Gail), Brad (Miryam), Lori (predeceased in 1985), and Kevin (predeceased in 2025), who was married to Xin Xin.
A woman deeply committed to helping others, Cecilly fulfilled her calling through volunteer work with Bereaved Families of Ontario, Hamilton, where she served as office coordinator. She was also actively involved with Christ Church Woodburn, becoming President of the Anglican Church Women (ACW). In recognition of her service and dedication, Cecilly was awarded the Diocese of Niagara Medal of Honour.
After forty-six years in Woodburn, Cecilly and Brian returned to Woodstock. In December ‘23, Cecilly began day classes at VON, where her artistic talents were allowed to blossom, and where some very helpful people encouraged and helped her two days a week to attain her potential.
She was offered an additional two days a week in April '24 with Woodingford Transition Program classes, where she was equally encouraged to express her talents by a very caring and talented group. The sharing and companionship in both these classes benefited her greatly; amazing people run these programs, and we thank them greatly. During this time, Cecilly continued her gradual decline due to vascular dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, bravely facing its effects for several years. Cecilly later transitioned into the care of Woodingford Lodge in Ingersoll, where she spent her remaining months. She was lovingly cared for by a devoted and professional staff who made her time there as comfortable and meaningful as possible. The family extends their deepest gratitude to them.
On January 6, a small family gathering was arranged by Brock and Visser Funeral Home in Woodstock, followed by cremation.
At last, she is at peace.
