Cheryl passed away peacefully at Sakura House on Thursday December 21, 2023 surrounded by the love and warmth of her family.
Cheryl is survived by her husband and best friend, Paul Decoopman. Together, they raised two daughters, Marsha McConnell (Ray) and Carly Decoopman.
The title of 'Grandma' was Cheryl's crowning glory, and she wore it like a tiara. Zackery Berton (Alisha Park), Sheldon Berton (Ashley), and Olivia McConnell were the stars in her sky, while her great-grandchildren, Savannah and Kayden Berton, added the sparkle. Cheryl is forever loved and remembered by her mother, Muriel Couch, her siblings Linda Feick (Dave), Jim Couch, Brian Couch (Tammy), and Velda Couch, and her in-laws, Linda Couch, Pat Wice (Gary), Ed Decoopman (Peggy), and Jerry Decoopman (Bonnie).
Cheryl was a fixture at Woolco, which later became Walmart, from the day the doors swung open until her retirement in 2018 after 44 years.
Cheryl and Paul enjoyed travel together, with Las Vegas and Hawaii being among her favourite destinations. She doted on her fur-babies and constant companions, Max and Ruby, but Cheryl's greatest love was her family - the apples of her eye, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her grandson Brayden in 2003, her father Cecil Couch Sr., her parents-in-law Gerard and Charlotte Decoopman, and her brothers, Ken, Ron, Randy, Kevin, and Cecil Couch.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, December 27 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home. A service celebrating Cheryl's life will take place at 1pm on Thursday December 28 in the funeral home chapel, with a reception to follow at the Unifor Hall, Local 636, 126 Beale St, Woodstock. For those who wish, memorial donations to the Oxford County Animal Rescue would be welcomed.
