John 14: 2-3 as Jesus said, “My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”

Colin David Wilson Harbinson, born on December 18, 1946, in Hackney, London, UK, passed away peacefully. In the early morning of June 25, 2025, in Woodstock, Ontario. Colin lived a life rich in purpose and creativity, touching the hearts of many throughout his journey.

Predeceased by his beloved mother, father, and sister, Colin leaves behind a legacy of love and inspiration. He is survived by his devoted wife, Maureen, and his two loving sons, Paul (Lisa) and Mark (Kendra), who carry forward his spirit and values. Colin was a proud Pop-Pops to his cherished grandchildren, Jade (Nick), Abby, Tyra, Brooke, Racheal (Joey), Daniel and great-granddaughter Louisa, who will forever remember him as a source of wisdom and joy.

At the age of 18, Colin left home to pursue his education at Brighton College of Education. He was among the first students when Sussex University opened, where he upgraded his qualifications to earn a Bachelor's in Education. After completing his studies, he dedicated his life to teaching locally, sharing his knowledge and passion with his students. Colin was the Dean of the Performing Arts for Belhaven University for 12 years in Jackson, Mississippi. He was also responsible for building the Arts Centre for the University.

In his spare time, Colin channelled his creativity into forming a dance group known as “Lord of the Dance." His vibrant spirit and artistic pursuits extended well beyond this group; in 1978, Colin joined YWAM (Youth With A Mission), embarking on a mission-driven life alongside Maureen and their sons. Together, they travelled around the world, using the arts, evangelism, beauty, and truth to share the message of God through the plays he wrote and created, “Toymaker and Son, and “Dayuma”

Colin spent years immersed in the worlds of art and theology, during which he authored several books. In his later years, he embraced technology, mentoring artists through Zoom, fostering their growth and creativity. His words often echoed a profound commitment to faith and resilience, as he frequently expressed, "Great is His faithfulness."Colin David Wilson Harbinson leaves behind a remarkable legacy filled with love, creativity, and faith. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His impact on the lives of others will resonate for generations to come.

A Celebration of Colin’s Life will be held on  Saturday July 19, 2025 from 2-4 pm at Hope Church (64 Blandford Rd. Innerkip, Ontario). Please RSVP to harbinson.paul@gmail.com by July 12, 2025. 

In honour of Colin, memorial contributions to the Parkinson’s Society of Canada would be greatly appreciated by the family.
