The Lord has called His faithful servant home. On August 4, 2025, Cosimo, beloved Husband, Father, Nonno, and Bisnonno, peacefully entered eternal rest at the age of 89.

Cosimo was born in Siderno, Italy in 1936 to parents Rosa and Domenic Commisso. At 15 years old, he followed his Brother and Father to Canada in search of a better life. He journeyed to Schreiber, Ontario, working first on the railway before devoting 42 loyal years to Kimberly Clark. Schreiber became more than a home; it was where he built a life rooted in faith, hard work, and deep devotion to his family. He retired and moved to Woodstock, Ontario in 1999, showering his love on a whole new community.

In 1961, he married his beloved Giuseppina (Lizzi). Their 64-year marriage was a beautiful testament to true love and lifelong commitment, setting an example for all who knew them. They were truly inseparable- two hearts walking as one through every season of life.

Together, they raised four loving children: Rosa (Domenic), Domenic (Edith), Gisella (Giulio), and Nancy (Dallas). He was a proud and adoring Nonno to Melissa (Jamie), Leanna, Olivia (Marco), Cosimo (Julie), Dallan (Abby), Matthew (Anna), Marissa (Austin), Aidan, and Evan, and a joyful Bisnonno to six great-grandchildren: Lucy, Isaac, Isabella, Owen, Valentina, and Gioia, with two more blessings on the way. He was deeply loved by his siblings, Serafina, Nicola (Rosetta), Mary (Cosimo), and James (Rosanna), and sister in-laws, Maria and Antoinette. Predeceased by his Brothers Frank and Joe, and brother-in-law Vincenzo. He will be missed by his brothers and sister in-laws Maria, Domenic and Pina, Ida and Carmelo, Cosimo and Maggie, Lina and Carmelo. Predeceased by Domenic Pedulla, Antonio and Teresina Lizzi. He was known to so many nieces and nephews as Zio Coe, and cherished by so many friends- a bright light to all who met him.

He found joy in life’s simple pleasures: tending his garden, honouring Italian traditions like sausage and wine making, and playing cards with family and friends, like Elisa and Tony, Mirella and Paolo. He loved offering advice and enjoyed celebrating so many special occasions with his famous speeches. His words often reminded us to “keep the golden chain alive,” a reflection of his unwavering belief in the strength and unity of family.

We extend heartfelt thanks to the Palliative Care team, especially Dr. Gee, Dr. Regis, the Paramedic team, and the support staff from Right at Home for their compassion and guidance during a difficult time. Special thanks to the staff at Sakura House, who, though with us briefly, provided comfort, dignity, and a final farewell wrapped in love and grace.

Though our hearts grieve, we rejoice in knowing he now rests in the presence of God, reunited with loved ones who have gone before him. His faith was strong, his love was deep, and his legacy will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

He was the root of our family tree, the keeper of wisdom, and the joy behind so many beautiful memories. We will miss him dearly, love him always, and honour him forever.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Sakura House or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Friends and relatives are invited to join the family at the Brock & Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock (519-539-0004) for a time of visitation on Monday, August 11, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
