It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Douglas Bain Sutor on May 22, 2025, at the venerable age of 93. Douglas passed away peacefully at Woodstock Hospital, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Douglas was the devoted husband of Leone (nee Turnbull) for an incredible 68 years. Together, they built a beautiful life and home in Guelph for 67 years, where their lifetime memories were made before recently relocating to Woodstock. Douglas retired after an illustrious 40-year career as the manager of Manufacturing at CGE/ABB, where he was known for his dedication and leadership. Surrounded by love and the beautiful melodies of Leone's piano, he peacefully departed this world, carried away by the music that always brought him comfort and joy
Douglas was a loving father to his girls and their husbands, Carolyn and David Rumble of Blenheim, and Margaret and Ken Van Dyk of Woodstock. His joy extended to his grandchildren: Kerry and Andrew Jack, Jackie and Dave Pfaff, Jessica and Will Garant, Joshua and Dallas Van Dyk, and Laura and Stephen Hogan. He was predeceased by his beloved grandson Nicholas Van Dyk. Douglas's heart was warmed by his great-grandchildren: Lily, Avery, and Kallie Jack; Lincoln and Mickey Pfaff; Spencer and Mara Garant; Keaton and Everett Van Dyk; and Noah, Leo, and Archie Hogan.
Douglas was predeceased by his sister Jean (late Dick) Emerson and sister-in-law Agnes (late John) King. He will be remembered fondly by his nieces and nephews and his memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
In honor of Douglas's life and spirit, donations Childhood Cancer or Harcourt United Church in Guelph would be greatly appreciated.
