Edmund Joseph Lee, affectionately known as Ed to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2024, at the age of 92 in Woodstock, Ontario. Born on February 24, 1932, in Orillia, Ontario, Ed's life was a tapestry of love, kindness, and selfless dedication to his loved ones.
Ed's journey through life was marked by the joyous sounds of his harmonica, a passion that brought warmth to many gatherings. He was a man who found solace in the great outdoors, whether it was while hunting or tending to his garden, where he cultivated not just plants, but also friendships and memories. Ed's daily walks with his loyal dog, Titan, were a testament to his love for life's simple pleasures.
He leaves behind his cherished common-law spouse, Cathy, who stood by him with unwavering support and love. Ed's legacy continues through his stepchildren, Kim (Scott) Rudy, Stephen (Kris) Hohl, Scott Hohl, Christine (John) Simpson, Carol (Bud) Lobodzinski, Gord (Gail) Bell, and Brenda Bray. His spirit will also live on in the hearts of his several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will miss his gentle presence and the stories he shared.
Ed was a beloved brother to Stuart Lee, Maureen Odorico, Grant (Margaret) Lee, Wilson (Jill) Lee, and Barbara (Ray) Comeau. His younger brother Bernie (Anita) will fondly remember the bond they shared. Ed was predeceased by his common-law spouse, Rose, and his in-laws Kathleen, Wilma, Evelyn, and Leno, who have welcomed him on the next stage of his journey. His numerous nieces and nephews will hold onto the precious memories of their kind uncle.
Ed's life was a reflection of his loving, kind, and selfless nature. He was a man who always put others before himself, and his generosity of spirit was felt by all who knew him. His ability to listen, offer a helping hand, or share a word of encouragement made him a pillar in his community and a source of comfort to his family.
A Celebration of Life will be at the Ingersoll Royal Canadian Legion (211 Thames Street North, Ingersoll, Ontario) July 7th, 2024 from 1:00 - 4:00 PM, where friends and family will gather to honor Ed's memory. It will be a time to share stories, laughter, and perhaps a tune or two from his beloved harmonica, as those who loved him come together to pay tribute to a life well-lived.
