Edna May Dean Profile Photo

Edna May Dean, a cherished matriarch and beloved member of her family, was born on December 21, 1931 in the serene setting of Stewiacke, Nova Scotia. She graced this world for nearly ninety-four years before passing away peacefully on October 21, 2025.

Edna's life was a rich tapestry woven with love, devotion, and resilience. She was the adored wife of the late Basil Dean, with whom she shared a profound bond that served as the cornerstone of their family. Together, they forged a life filled with warmth and laughter, imparting their values and teachings to the next generations.

She was a nurturing mother to her children, Ed (Jan Chambers) Dean and Nancy VanOstaeyen (the late Frank), guiding them with wisdom and compassion. As a grandmother, Edna's legacy continued to flourish through her grandchildren: Rachel Dean, Melaine Ferris (Ryan), Nicole VanOstaeyen-Koot (Tony), Christie VanOstaeyen, and Kelsey Ingram (Brandon). They were, in every sense, the apples of her eye and the echoes of her spirit.

The joy of Edna's life blossomed further with the arrival of her great-grandchildren: Carter, Brayden, Elizabeth, Nolan, Harry, KC, Kallie, and Hannah. Their laughter and innocence were treasures that enriched her days and filled her heart with indescribable joy.

Edna is also survived by her brother, Roy Crawford, along with several nieces and nephews, who carry forward her vibrant spirit and kind-hearted influence.

She now reunites with those who preceded her in death, including her beloved spouse Basil Dean and granddaughter Katie, as well as her cherished siblings: Helen, Dorothy, Gloria, Edith, Joyce, and Ernie, Danny.

Memorial Visitation will take place on Saturday October  25, 2025 from 10-11 am followed by a funeral service at 11 am at Brock and Visser Funeral Home (845 Devonshire Ave.)
