With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Edward Ray Bannister, who peacefully departed this life on November 3, 2025 at Woodingford Lodge, formerly of Henry St. Woodstock, at the age of 87. Born January 5th, 1938, Edward is now reunited with the true love of his life, his beloved wife Phyllis (nee Mcintyre) (2021), with whom he shared 60 years of marriage and many beautiful years together.

Predeceased by his father, William John Bannister (1976), and his mother, Louie Elizabeth (Holland) Bannister (1997).

Loving father to Michael (Laurie) Bannister and Monica (Todd) McCoy. Cherished grandfather to Shelby Presello (Dr. Alex Presello) and Brooke McCoy. Uncle to  Sharron (Craig) Parrott and Wayne (Judy) McIntyre.

Edward was a longtime employee of Beachville Lime, where he formed several good friendships that lasted a lifetime. He was proud to enjoy an early retirement with Phyllis by his side. Together, they embraced a life full of love, family, and laughter-spending cherished time with loved ones at the Turkey Point cottage, taking long scenic drives, and escaping to the Florida sunshine each winter.

Edward was known for his warm, social nature and his quick, sharp sense of humor. He made friends wherever he went-and they all knew his name. He had a great passion for cars-whether it was fixing them, shining them to perfection, or simply enjoying the open road. Over the years, he owned many cars. He was always keeping his hands busy. Whether it was a garage, shed, a deck at the cottage, or a new project around the house, Edward was a man who loved to work—but just as importantly, he never forgot how to play.

He lived by the motto, "Live life while you're able," and he truly did just that.

Edward held deep appreciation for his truly lifelong friends, Fred and Pat McDonald. Special thanks to the kind and dedicated staff and friends at Peach Place, Woodingford Lodge, for their compassionate care, and to everyone who made Edward's day brighter-especially those who stopped to listen to a story or simply called out, "Hi, Ed," along their way. Your kindness will never be forgotten.

A private interment has taken place at the Anglican Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ingamo Homes of Woodstock.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Brock & Visser Funeral Home (845 Devonshire Ave. 519-539-0004)
