Elvira Maria Regina Brown (nee Koenig), a cherished member of her family and community, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital, in Hamilton, on Saturday, February 28, 2026, just shy of her 76th birthday. Born on March 3, 1950, in Banfe, Germany, Elvira lived a life full of love, creativity, and dedication to those around her.
Elvira's family was paramount to her, and she took immense joy in nurturing her relationships with her loved ones. She is survived by her husband, Terry Brown, and her two children, Naomi (Mark Weiler) Dolson-Brown and Nathan (Nicole Auger) Brown. Elvira adored being an Oma to her grandchildren, Andrew (Leah), Phillip (Allison), Hannah, Autumn, and Michael. She found great joy in being a great-oma to Isla and Nora. She cherished the close bond she shared with her sisters; Brigitte (John) King, Roswitha Koenig, Shirley Koenig, Susan (Mark) Florence, and Andrea Koenig, and remained an ever-present source of advice and support, whether her family sought it or not. Her legacy also extends to many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly, as will the entire Dolson Family.
Throughout her life, Elvira embraced a variety of hobbies that beautifully reflected her creative spirit. She was an active member of her local craft guild, where she shared both her talents and her friendship. Music also held a special place in her heart, and she joyfully lifted her voice as a member of her community choir and was a leader of the churches children’s folk choir.
Her love of gardening brought colour and warmth to her home, while her deep compassion for animals revealed her gentle and nurturing nature. Elvira especially cherished Christmastime, a season filled with laughter, tradition, and togetherness, and she took great joy in her family’s annual cookie-baking day with the ladies, creating sweet memories that will be treasured for years to come.
Elvira was predeceased by her father, Andrew Koenig, and mother, Ursula Koenig, as well as Wayne Dolson.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital, with special appreciation to Dr. Zahira Khalid and nurses Maddison and Therez. Your kindness, dedication, and compassionate care will always be remembered and deeply appreciated.
The family invites friends and relatives to join them for a time of visitation on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Saint Martin of Tours Roman Catholic Church (166 West Street, Smithville) from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will follow at 12:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Arthritis Society Canada would be greatly appreciated.
