FREDERICK ALORNE DITCHFIELD

Frederick Alorne Ditchfield passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026 at Caressant Care nursing home with his loving family, Michael and Kristine at his side.

Fred was born in Simcoe Ontario on August 25, 1933 to Kenneth Ditchfield (1967) and Velma Ditchfield (2002). He was the oldest of 6 children and carried that role with quiet strength throughout his life.

Fred is survived by his sister Donna Wilhelm and the late Lawrence Wilhelm (2025). He will be lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews Michael and Kristine Sutherland, Rick and Leslie Rudy, Bill Sutherland, Jim and Sarrah Sutherland, Rick Ditchfield (Mel), Marty and Heather Ditchfield, Kenny Ditchfield, and Tim Ditchfield (Brenda) and his special niece Kathy Kinsey (Joe) and David and Sue Bantroch as well as many great nieces and nephews.

Fred's greatest lifelong friend, and the most important person in his life, was Sandra Wright, whose love and support meant everything to him. He is also deeply missed by Sandra's family, who became part of his own.

He was predeceased by his siblings Bill and Connie Ditchfield, Bob Ditchfield, Gary and Judy Ditchfield, Mary-Lou and Paul Bantroch and his great nephew Robbie Ditchfield.

In his early years, Fred enjoyed running, boxing and riding his bike- Once even cycling all the way to Ottawa. He loved baseball and hockey and was a devoted winnipeg jets fan. A man of strong faith, Fred attended Huron Park Baptist church for over 40 years. He proudly served in the Royal Canadian Air Force for 25 years as a flight mechanic and following his retirement, he devoted many years to lovingly caring for his aging mother.

Kristine and Michael would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff and Caressant Care nursing home, especially to Trish, Bianca, Michelle, Mariah and Justin for their exceptional care and compassion shown to Fred and Kristine in Fred's final days. Your kindness and support will never be forgotten.

Visitation will be held at Brock and Visser funeral home, Woodstock Ontario on Thursday January 29th, 2026 at 10:00 am with the service to follow at 11:00am. Reception to follow. Pastor Ethan Cassidy officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimers society would be appreciated.
