Gerrit "Gerry" Klingenberg, born November 22, 1952, passed away unexpectedly on June 14, 2024, at the age of 71, at the end of what was described as the best week of his life, at the end of his life. Gerry was a man whose zest for life and love for his family defined him.
We have lost an amazing man who always had a smile and kind word for anyone who crossed his path. With a gentle heart and soul who was as strong and compassionate as they come who always instilled resilience and love for his family. He was our dad, grandpa, brother, a husband, uncle, cousin and a friend to many! More than words can ever say, we love you so much and are going to miss you!
Gerry is survived by his wife, Usana. Cherished father to Christy Bruinink, Tanya Payne (Mike), Angie Pellatt (Adam), and Nathan Klingenberg. He is also remembered by their mother, Jo Klingenberg. His role as a proud grandpa to Miranda, Jordan, Carson, Grace, Matthew, Alexandra, Graham, Aaron, Arianna, and Carissa, and as a great-grandpa to Karmyn, brought him immeasurable joy. Gerry was a dear brother to John Klingenberg (Linda), Jake Bentum (Lorna), Rick Klingenberg (Bonnie), Chris Voskamp (Pete), and Ken Klingenberg (Colleen). He was predeceased by his parents, Gezinus and Antje Klingenberg, sister Janet Bentum and his son-in-law, Chris Bruinink.
Gerry dedicated many years to Laidlaw Trucking in Woodstock as a truck driver. He was well-respected by his colleagues and took pride in his profession. Following his retirement from trucking, he greatly enjoyed his position at RONA in London.
Beyond his professional life, Gerry was an avid outdoorsman. His love for fishing, hiking, and camping was more than a hobby; it was a way of life that he eagerly shared with his family and friends. The great outdoors was Gerry's sanctuary, and he found peace and happiness in the tranquility of nature.
A big thank you to all first responders and medical staff at Temiskaming Hospital in New Liskeard, Health Sciences North in Sudbury and Ornge for all your care and compassion that you provided him
