Surrounded by family, Gordon Ellis Martin, of Woodstock, Ontario, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ on June 15, 2024, at Sakura House, at the age of 87 (March 1, 1937). Gord was a faithful Christ follower from a very young age and was loved and appreciated by everyone who knew him. He was the beloved husband of 60 years to Gloria Martin (nee Bragg). He will be profoundly missed by his children Jane Valenta (Calvin) and Andrew Martin (Katyna); as well as his grandchildren Evan Valenta (Ashley), Emily Schwartzentruber (Blake), Rachel Valenta, Victoria Martin, Caleb Martin, Stephany Martin (Noah), and Kristianna Martin; and great-grandson, Maskosis.

He is survived by his brother, Dr. Rev. Harvey Martin (Grace). He is pre-deceased by his parents, Clarence and Aletha Martin, his brothers, Aubrey Martin (Bernice), Reg Martin (survived by Elaine) and Doug Martin (Marion). He will be deeply missed by several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Gord worked as a life insurance broker for 42 years and was the co-founder of GEM Financial Group. He was a member of the Woodstock Flying Club and was a longtime pilot. Gord was a past president of the Woodstock/Oxford Rotary Club. He was deeply involved in church ministry at both Berean Bible Church and Huron Park Baptist Church.

Gord’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Binh Vu, Dr. Violette, the staff at the Rehab and Palliative Care Units at the Woodstock Hospital and Sakura House for their compassionate care in his final days.

The family invites friends and relatives to Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock (519-539-0004), on Friday, June 21st from 2-4 pm and again from 6-8 pm. A celebration of Gord’s life will be held at Huron Park Baptist Church, 199 Berwick St, Woodstock, on Saturday, June 22nd at 11 a.m. There will be a luncheon following. A private family internment will take place after the luncheon.
