On Sunday November 26, 2023 Hank passed away peacefully at Sakura House surrounded by family.
Hank was born on April 17, 1941 in Maarssen Netherlands to Maria and Hendrik. The family emigrated to Canada and settled in the Woodstock area. Hank is survived by his sons Henry (Colleen) and Darryl (Michelle), and grandson Max. He was predeceased by his son Michael (1995). He will be greatly missed by his partner Ruby. Hank will also be missed by his siblings Rita Lawrence, John Griffioen (Deb) and Anita Griffioen (Nino). He was predeceased by his brother Adriaan Griffioen (1987) and sister Elizabeth Hanenburg (1986). He will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews.
The Pikeman enjoyed fishing at the bluffs and lighthouse in search of the pickerel, salmon and many perch that graced his fishing poles. His happiest times were at the Fin and Feather Park with his many friends and fellow fishermen. He was an avid Maple Leafs fan and had many opinions on how to make the team better each game. He was also a sharpshooter dart thrower both at the lake and Legion 55.
We would like to thank all the family and friends who pitched in and helped over the last month. We would also like to thank the wonderful staff at Sakura House for their kindness, compassion, and caregiving. As per Hank’s wishes a private family gathering has already been held. Online condolences can be made here and in memory of Hank, also donations can be made to Sakura House also through this website or at the funeral home.
