With deep love and sadness, we announce the passing of Hermina ('Mina') Clark. She was born on September 23, 1926, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, and passed away May 10, 2026 at peopleCare in Tavistock, Ontario in her 100th year. Hermina ('Mina') was preceded by her husband Lorne ('Jerry') Martin Clark (July 2012), father and mother Alva and Alma (Robinson) Thompson, stepmother Edna (Zilkie) Thompson. She was the last surviving member of her seven brothers and sisters, brothers Job and Murray at early ages, Jack (Marge), Ralph (Marj), Clarke (Nell), Daniel (Doris, Sybil), sisters Dorothy (Cleo) Mitchell, Elsie (Harry) House, twin brother Hillis (JoAnn) Thompson. Survived by her daughters Coleen Clark and Virginia Goneau (Mike), grandsons Robin Elliott (Tam & Makynlee and Charlotte), Stephen Goneau (Ainsley and Samantha & Tyler), and Mark (Sarah & Emily), as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
Mina grew up on the family farm at Boharm, Sask. After graduating from high school at age 18, she and a girlfriend joined the Canada Armed Forces in Regina, and were transferred to London, Ontario, where she took a position as a secretary. She met her future husband Lorne (Jerry), also in the Armed Forces, on a blind date. They asked the Commanding Officer permission to marry, which they did six months later, and spent the next 67 years together.
They farmed (Jersey cows) until retiring and spent the next 30 years travelling the world: Australia and New Zealand, England and France, Cuba, Mexico, and drove and cruised Alaska. They camped with several family members throughout Canada and United States, often in a convey down the road, visiting family and friends out west.
In her youth, she enjoyed curling, softball, riding their pony, and their cottage named 'O So Easy' at Watrus, Saskatchewan. She had to learn to play euchre in the Armed Forces to catch hubby Lorne's attention! They enjoyed their euchre groups at Tavistock Legion, followed by more euchre and other activities at Oxford Gardens Retirement where she lived for 13 years, the last 3 weeks at peopleCare in Tavistock. It meant so much to her to celebrate their 90th birthday with her twin brother, Hillis, in Moose Jaw.
With special thanks to all the staff at Oxford Gardens, peopleCare, Woodstock Hospital, Dr. Anderson-Kay and her staff, and all Bayshore Caregivers (Tyler Lorenz).
All those that knew Mina are invited to join the family at Brock and Visser, 845 Devonshire Ave, Woodstock on Tuesday May 19, from 11:00 to 12:00. The funeral service will take place in the funeral home chapel at 12:00, and all are invited to reception after, at Brock & Visser reception area.
