Hilda passed away peacefully at Woodstock Hospital on July 2, 2025 with her family by her side.

Born on a farm at Boston, Townsend Township on September 27, 1925, the only child of Clarence (1981) and Mildred (1999) Rusling.

Hilda will be missed by her son Paul (Karen) of Woodstock and daughter Beth of Victoria, BC. She will be fondly remembered by her Goddaughter Lisa Powell of Comox, BC, Karen’s sons Shawn, Stephen and Scott Gallman and their families as well as several nieces and close cousins in South Western, ON.

Predeceased by her loving husband Harold W. Nichols (2008) and daughter-in-law Margaret (2005).

After graduating from High School and Business College in Waterford, Hilda moved to Toronto in 1943 and spent the remaining War years as a legal secretary in a large law firm. In 1946 she moved to London where she met Harold and they were married in 1948.

In 1961, the family moved to Kitchener Waterloo. Hilda was an active member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church for over 35 years and a 20 year member of the Probus Women’s Club of Kitchener Westmount, serving as Secretary and Program Committee member for a period.

Harold and Hilda enjoyed traveling and covered Canada from coast to coast as well as visiting many countries over their almost 60 year marriage - wintering in Florida in later years.

In 2014 Hilda moved to Woodstock to be closer to family, joining Knox Presbyterian Church.

The family will receive friends for visitation at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 519-539-0004, on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 from 1 pm until the time of the Memorial Service in the Chapel of the Funeral Home at 2 pm.
