After a battle with cancer, Howard Thomas Bigham passed away peacefully at home, August 26th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was 71 years old.
Howard was the beloved husband of Margaret (Green) Bigham, with whom he had just celebrated 49 years of marriage. Together they raised three children: Rebekah (m. Charles de Bueger), Daniel (m. Meredith), and Hannah (m. John Gregus). He was a cherished grandfather to Emily, Lucy, and Elisabeth; Eli, Hazel, Olive, and Emma; and Annie.
Born in 1954 to Gordon and Hazel Bigham, Howard grew up in Woodstock, Ontario with his older siblings Fred (m. Laraine), Beryle (m. John, deceased), and Gerald (m. Anne). He attended high school at WCI, where he excelled in track and field and enjoyed playing football. He went on to study business at Western University.
In 1976, Howard took over the family business, Bigham The Mover, founded by his grandfather in 1920. He managed it with dedication and integrity, carrying forward a legacy of hard work and service. Additionally his input was valued during the years that he was elected to the Allied Van Lines National Board of Directors.
A committed follower of Christ and a lifelong member of Oxford Baptist Church, Howard’s faith was foundational to his life. He loved time at their Turkey Point family cottage, golfing, sailing, travelling—especially to visit Rebekah and her family overseas—and Florida vacations. He was an avid reader (and underliner of books), requiring book shelves in many rooms of their home. He also enjoyed woodworking and home renovations with Margaret.
Howard will be remembered for his devotion to family, his faith, and his steady presence. His legacy of love and faithfulness lives on in the family he treasured.
A special thanks to Dr. Nichols, Dr. Jamal and the Palliative Care Team for their compassionate care.
A private graveside service is being held this week, followed by a celebration of life on Saturday, October 4th at 1:30pm at Oxford Baptist Church, 595465 Oxford 59, Woodstock, ON.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the benevolent fund at Oxford Baptist Church would be appreciated.
