Ida Conić passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 12, 2026 in the ARCHES Transitional Unit in Woodstock just shy of her hundredth birthday. Born Ida Birsa in Maribor, Yugoslavia (now Slovenia) on March 3, 1926, she came to Canada in August, 1958, to marry Dragutin Conić, who was born in Leskovac, Yugoslavia (now Serbia). He predeceased her on October 5, 1999. She is survived by her daughter, Nada (Paula), in Toronto. There will be a memorial service in April to be followed by interment of part of her ashes in the Anglican Cemetery alongside her husband. The remainder will be taken back to Maribor by her daughter, to whom she bequeathed her love of her homeland and people. With special thanks to the friends, neighbours and staff of ARCHES who loved and cared for her in her final years.

A celebration of Ida's life will take place at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home at 845 Devonshire Ave, Woodstock, on Saturday April 11, 2026 from 1-3pm.
