It is with a deep sense of reverence and heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Jacqueline Gabrielle Vanhoucke, who departed this life peacefully on May 4, 2026, in Ingersoll, Ontario. Born on April 28, 1938, in Oostkamp, Belgium, Jacqueline’s journey was one marked by resilience, grace, and an unwavering devotion to her family.
Jacqueline’s earliest years were spent in her beloved homeland until the tender age of nine, when she moved across the Atlantic, embracing Canada as her new home. This momentous transition shaped a life rich in experiences and steadfast in love.
Her enduring passion was her family, a sanctuary of warmth and unity she cherished above all else. Jacqueline shared nearly 68 years of marriage with her devoted husband Maurice, a bond emblematic of commitment and enduring affection. Together, they nurtured a family whose roots spread far and wide.
She was a proud mother to her sons, Rick, who is accompanied by his wife Tamie, and Daniel, alongside his wife Margaret. Jacqueline’s legacy extends through a multitude of nieces, nephews, as well as great nieces and great nephews, each bearing a trace of her kindness and spirit. Her familial circle was further enriched by her brother, Norbert Lava.
The circle of those who loved her has been touched by loss as well. Jacqueline was predeceased by her son, Richard Vanhoucke, whose memory remains a luminous beacon in the hearts of those who knew him. She also mourned the loss of her oldest brother, Oscar Lava, and cherished sisters-in-law, Godelieve Lava and Jane Lava, all of whom contributed to the tapestry of her life.
A Celebration of Life will be held to honor Jacqueline’s memory on the 24th of May, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Brock & Visser Funeral Home Burial and Cremation Services Ltd., Woodstock Chapel, located at 845 Devonshire Avenue, Woodstock, Ontario. This gathering will serve as a testament to Jacqueline’s enduring influence, a heartfelt occasion for friends and family to come together in remembrance and gratitude for a life beautifully lived.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society or the Diabetes Association.
