James (Jim) William Walker

January 30, 1960 – March 31, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jim Walker, at the young age of 66, after a very courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Jim is dearly loved and desperately missed by his wife of 41 years, Cindy (nee Parliament) and their children Jessica and Todd Routenburg, Katelyn Walker, and James Bradley Walker. His four cherished grandchildren, Emma, Sophia, Lucas, and Hanna Routenburg have many happy memories and thousands of pictures to keep him close. Jim will be missed by his sister, Julie (Don) Housworth. He was predeceased by his parents, Jim and Evelyn Walker of Woodstock.

For thirty years, Mr. Walker was a dedicated and much-loved teacher and coach in Oxford County and the Thames Valley District School Board (1983 – 2015), mentoring students through innovative math and science lessons, preparing students for high school, and challenging them as they prepared for Gauss Math contests. Jim coached all sports and successfully nurtured kind, dedicated, and talented team players. He was also passionate about family and friends. Together with Cindy, he enjoyed exploring the world (B.C., the Caribbean, Nepal, Iceland, Alaska, Hawaii, Europe, and winters in Florida). Jim also enjoyed participating in and watching sports such as golf, lob ball, baseball, basketball, and volleyball to name a few. Playing cards, taking long walks, and working in the yard and gardens rounded out his days.

The family will be holding a celebration of life this spring and warmly welcomes those who wish to attend. Details will be shared once arrangements are finalized.
