It is with great sadness, we announce the death of Janet Shields on June 20, 2025.

After a period of declining health, she passed peacefully with family by her side, at Woodstock General Hospital.

Janet was born January 10, 1942 to William and Janet Stewart in a small village in Ayrshire, Scotland. She was the youngest of 5 in a close-knit family and the last surviving member.

Janet was the beloved wife to Herbert Richmond (d.1992) and William Shields (d. 2011).

Loving and devoted Mum to Garry (Linda), Jan (Scott) and Lee. She was a fun-loving and immensely proud Gran to Laura, Jennifer (Jack), Nicole ( Alexander) and Gregory (Courtney).

A true Scot and proud Canadian, she lived life with gusto, an incredible sense of humour and did it her way, leaving us all with treasured memories and many a story to tell.

If able, please join the family on Friday June 27, 2025 at 1 pm for an informal gathering in her cherished garden at the home she so loved. To honour her character and in keeping with the season, casual dress and cheerful colours are welcome.

For those who wish, donations can be made to WGH or Sakura House, a place close to her heart.

Final resting place will be Hillview Cemetery, Woodstock, ON.
