"That whoever believes in Him may have eternal life." John 3:15

Johannes "John" DeBoer, beloved husband, father, and opa, passed away on January 9, 2026, at Woodingford Lodge, Woodstock, after a long battle with dementia.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Wendy (Wijke) De Boer, and their four sons, Vincent (Sandra), Arnold (Heather), Peter (Liesbeth), and Elco (Christie). John was cherished by his grandchildren: Anton (Nelly), Alanna, Alexandria, Esther, Micah, Annelies, Mark, Patrick, Danique, Evan, and Claire.

John was born on November 18, 1940, in Friesland, where he grew up on his father's dairy farm. In pursuit of better opportunities, he and his family immigrated to Canada in 1986. John's passion for dairy farming was evident throughout his life, but he also enjoyed singing and being a member of the "Men of Praise" choir. In retirement, he spent many hours woodworking in his shop, travelling with friends, biking, and exploring nature. He especially cherished family gatherings where everyone came together.

John will also be greatly missed by his brothers, sisters, in-laws, and extended family in the Netherlands. He was predeceased by his parents, Sent and Pietsje de Boer - de Goede, as well as one brother and one brother-in-law.

Special thanks to the Woodingford Lodge staff for their amazing care.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday January 13, 2026 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm and Wednesday January 14, 2026 from 10 am - 10:45 am at Maranatha Christian Reformed Church (735 Frontenac Cres. Woodstock).
