John Duffy, born on February 25, 1948, in Glasgow, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026, at Sakura House. He lived a life rich with passion and stories, leaving behind a legacy cherished by all who knew him.
John’s love for music was one of his defining traits. He could talk your ear off about anything related to the tunes of the 60s and 70s, his knowledge deep and profound. His enthusiasm was infectious, and many were fortunate to be on the receiving end of his stories and retellings. Alongside his musical interests, John was an ardent supporter of Celtic Football Club and found great joy in bird watching, often sharing these moments with his beloved partner of 25 years, Linda Dean.
John’s family and friends were central to his life. He is survived by Linda Dean, his devoted partner, whose companionship brought him immense comfort and happiness. His children, Kevin (Joanna) Duffy, Ian Duffy, and Neil (Sabrina) Duffy, continue to carry forward his spirit within his grandchildren Henry and Norah Duffy-Powers. He will be forever cherished by Linda’s children, Richard Rumas (Heather), Jennifer Rumas (Drew), and Allan Rumas (Ryann). He was a proud grandfather to Rilen and Calvin, further enriching his family circle.
His sisters, Patsy (Alec) in England and Frances (Robert) in Edmonton, remain part of his cherished family network, alongside many nieces, nephews, and extended relatives. The Dean family, close friends through many years, along with his lifelong best friend Colin Shortt, stand as a testament to the enduring bonds John nurtured throughout his life.
John was predeceased by his loving parents, Daniel and Isabelle Duffy, his brother Danny Duffy, and his mother-in-law, Minnie Dean, who held him dearly.
Friends and relatives are invited to join the family at Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave, Woodstock (519-539-0004), from 10 am to 11 am, with the service in the chapel at 11 am.
