Juanita Lynne Fanning-May

June 24, 1964 — March 8, 2024

She didn’t quite make it to her 60th birthday, but Juanita Lynne Fanning-May lived a life full of love and surrounded by loved ones during her short time on the planet.

Born in Barrie, Ontario on June 24, 1964, Juanita was a descendant of Mi'kmaq, Irish and Parisian French lineage.

She gently left for the spirit world the morning of March 8, 2024, ready for her next journey.

Predeceased by her parents, Anita Fanning and Joey Ditherbide, her siblings -- Roy, David and Cindy Fanning, her two husbands, Angelo Fiore and George May, and survived by her younger sister Tina McGuire. Juanita overcame many obstacles in life without ever losing the unwavering faith, kindness and resilience that so characterized her.

Beloved by her children Shaune and Shane and Jenn Pratt, Juanita became a mom to twin boys at the young age of 16, with her first love and life long friend Bernie Pratt. Two years later she gave birth to their beautiful daughter. Juanita was also blessed and loved dearly by two granddaughters, Sophia and Avery Pratt as well as Jenn’s partner Rena Pratt-Pascual. She never missed an opportunity to convey to her children and grandchildren that she loved them “bigger than the universe.”

She earned her degree as a Registered Early Childhood Educator from Centennial College and educated little ones in Toronto for over 20 years. She showed her love through acts of service, dedicating her life to caring for others, young and old throughout her time on this earth.
