Julie Hartviksen, a beloved nurse, devoted spouse, loving mother and grandmother and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on August 4, 1938, in Allenwood Co. Kildaire Ireland to Richard and Julia Brennan. Julie's nursing journey began at Whittington Hospital in London, England, where she trained. With a compassionate heart and an unwavering dedication to her profession, she touched many lives throughout her career.
In 1960, at the age of 22, Julie embarked on a new chapter in Canada and worked at Mckellar Hospital in Thunder Bay, Ontario. She met Raymond, at a dance who would become her loving spouse. The couple’s life together was filled with adventure as they moved around to various areas, always making friends along the way. Julie was truly a social butterfly with the most beautiful smile, effortlessly bringing people together with her warm spirit and zest for life.
Her passions extended beyond her nursing career. Julie had a deep love for cooking, socializing, and nurturing beautiful flowers, which blossomed in her vibrant garden and extensive travel with Ray around the world. Her home was often a hub of warmth and joy, welcoming family and friends for gatherings filled with laughter and love and good food. Julie was also known for her impeccable style; she was often “dressed to the nines” and almost always in heels.
Julie is survived by her devoted spouse, Raymond, and their three children, Lisa, Carl, and Jewel. She was a proud grandmother and best friend to Eric and held a special bond by grandchildren Chloe, Kieran, and Magdalena. Julie's legacy continues through her siblings, Maisie, Brigid, and Nancy, as well as her late brother Jim and sister Nellie. She leaves behind several nieces and nephews residing in Ireland, UK, USA, and Ontario, whose lives she touched profoundly.
Additionally, Julie is remembered by her siblings-in-law, Joan Hartviksen and Fritz Algier. Predeceased by in-laws Norman Hartviksen, Pat Brennen and Joe McCarthy. Will be missed by dear friends Patricia and Ed Leen, Susan Innis, Rita Henry and her many nursing friends from 3rd floor OB Woodstock Hospital and the Andrea Drive friends and neighbors.
