Lesley Earl Hughes, affectionately known as "Les," was a devoted dairy farmer whose tireless work ethic defined his life. Born on June 1, 1939, in Ontario, Les dedicated himself to agriculture and spent his entire career contributing to the rich tapestry of dairy farming. He remained a steadfast figure in his community and demonstrated an unwavering commitment to his craft until his passing on October 26, 2025, in Woodstock, Ontario.

A man of great character, Les was known not only for his hard work but also for his love of the outdoors, especially deer hunting with his friends at the Hunt Camp on his farm. These moments in nature were cherished by Les, who found joy in the camaraderie and the beauty of the landscape he called home.

In his personal life, Les was the proud father of three daughters: Sherry (Mark) Warboys, Judy (Bill) Parker, and Stephanie (Mike) Whatley. He was a devoted grandfather to Jamie (Chris), Sara (Jason), Michael (Sadie), and Nicole (Dumitru), and he took immense pride in his eleven great-grandchildren, who brought him much joy and happiness.

Les also shared many precious moments with his siblings: Norm (Jean), Lloyd (Sue), Cliff (Mary), Carol (Bill), and Dot, who is survived by her husband Rick (deceased). His brother-in-law, George, and close family extended their love and support throughout his life.

Les was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 66 years, Ruth, who passed away just four months prior on June 15, 2025. Together, they shared a remarkable journey filled with love and partnership. His parents, Earl and Irene, along with his sisters Elsie (Ted), Flo, and Bea, have also predeceased him.

The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Caressant Care for the compassionate care provided to Les during his final days. He will be remembered not only for his contributions as a farmer but also for the warmth and kindness he showed to all who knew him. Les leaves behind a legacy of hard work, love for family, and a deep appreciation for life’s simplest pleasures.

If desired, memorial donations to the MS Society or to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.  There will be a private family burial at Harris Street Cemetery in Ingersoll, Ontario
