Loraine Macdonald Shearsby, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at Woodingford Lodge on October 20, 2025, due to complications from Vascular Dementia. She was born on December 10, 1935, in Edinburgh, Scotland. At the age of 19, Loraine embarked on a transformative journey when she emigrated to Canada, where she met her future husband, Jim Shearsby, during the voyage. This marked the beginning of a shared life filled with love and adventure.

Loraine and Jim settled in the London area, where they raised their family. Their adventurous spirit took them abroad, spending cherished years in Turkey, Scotland, and England, enriching their family's experiences. Loraine’s love for travel flourished after their retirement, leading them to spend years sailing the Mediterranean on their beloved boat, “Scot Free,” while residing in both Spain and Greece. They also enjoyed winters spent in the United States, with regular trips back to Europe and Asia that allowed her to connect with relatives as well as diverse cultures and landscapes.

Throughout her impressive career as a real estate agent and broker for over 30 years, Loraine held the distinction of being the owner of Middlesex Realty Ltd. Her commitment to service and engaging personality made her a respected figure in the community, embodying professionalism and warmth.

Loraine's home was a gathering place filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories. She was known for her radiant joy during family celebrations, particularly her Christmas and New Year's parties, which she orchestrated with generous spirit and enthusiasm. Her love for company, parties, and dancing was infectious, creating lasting memories for all who had the pleasure of sharing those moments with her.

Loraine is survived by her children, Kim, Keith, and Kirk, along with her grandchildren, Melissa, Devon, Simon, Kaleigh and Alex. She also leaves behind her great-granddaughters, Cora, Alexis, and Aaliyah, and great-grandsons Tyler and William, as well as her great-great-granddaughter, Isla Rose. She joins in eternal rest with her husband, James Hogg Burns Shearsby.

Friends and family will gather to celebrate her life with visitation on November 1, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM until noon, all taking place at Brock & Visser Funeral Home Burial and Cremation Services Ltd., Woodstock Chapel, located at 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, Ontario.

Loraine Macdonald Shearsby will be deeply missed by all who knew her, remembered for her adventurous spirit, strong family ties, and the indelible mark she left on the hearts of those she loved.
