Margaret passed away peacefully at Woodstock Hospital on May 12, 2025 at the age of 92.
Margaret was married to Rae Curtis for 53 years. And perhaps the next longest relationship she had was with the clothes department at Kingsmill Department store in London, Ontario. She was a snappy yet elegant dresser whose sartorial taste was recognised formally when one year she won Woodstock’s “Best Dressed Woman Award”.
Margaret was encouraged by her employer, Mr Coles to “travel while you are young”. And travel she did. Whether it was in her 1966 Candy Apple Red Ford Mustang, or flights to Alaska or Europe, or a trans-Atlantic boat crossing to the UK, Margaret acted on Mr. Coles recommendation with vigour, enthusiasm —- and planning!
Margaret Curtis loved life. She was always happy to participate in any event, and always generous with her time and her recipes. No birthday ever passed without a card, no visit to family was made without a pie or some squares. And yet, even though she loved her husband, her brothers and sisters, and her nieces and nephews, it was her Christian faith which was the centre of her life. She taught Sunday School at Innerkip Presbyterian for many years and until recent years was a regular attendee at South Zora Baptist Church.
Nor was Aunt Margaret’s support for others purely spiritual; she provided practical support to others via Ladies’ Aid and the Fireside group.
Aunt Margaret was confident in what was coming next, confident of God’s promise of redemption and salvation, confident that those who share this belief will be reunited again.
An interment Service is being held at Innerkip Cemetery, 60 Main Street, Innerkip at 11:00 am on Monday, June 2nd, 2025 followed by refreshments at 12:00, at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave, Woodstock, ON N4S 8Z4.
