Nellie Ambrozine Newman, passed away on October 7, 2025, at the Caressant Care Nursing Home in Courtland. Born on February 8, 1927, in Jamaica, Nellie's life was a vibrant tapestry woven with love, faith, and creativity.
Nellie was known for her exceptional skills in embroidery, knitting, and crochet, delighting her family and friends with beautifully crafted baby outfits that became cherished keepsakes. Her creativity extended beyond her crafts, as she nurtured a warm and loving home, serving as a wonderful stay-at-home mom who was always there for her family whenever they needed her support.
A woman of deep faith, Nellie's devotion to her beliefs was a guiding light in her life. She instilled the values of love, compassion, and community in her children and grandchildren, fostering relationships built on trust and understanding.
Her legacy lives on through her beloved son Bruce and his wife Michele, her grandchildren, Sophia (Jason) Wouters, Natasha Newman (Brad Cook), David, Paula, Alec, and Jenny Newman. Additionally, she is the proud grandmother of great-grandchildren Nyah, Keira, Clara, Hudson, Lily, and Nora, each of whom carries a piece of her spirit.
Nellie is survived by her brother Hubert "Peter" McNamee, who, like many, will fondly remember her kindness and strength. She now joins her late husband Harold "Broodie" Newman, her son Donald and his wife Linda, her parents George and Ida McNamee, and her siblings Linda, Clarice, Godfrey "Boss," Calvin "Dolly," and Winston "Sonny."
