Paulene Salman, a beloved mother, nana, and friend, passed away on October 4, 2025, at Caressant Care Nursing in St. Thomas, Ontario. Born on February 11, 1947, in Sarnia, Ontario, Paulene led a life filled with kindness, support, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community.
Paulene began her career in 1975 at the Oxford Regional Centre, where she dedicated herself to helping others. Following its closure, she continued her meaningful work at Hamilton Psych, ultimately retiring in 2002. Her contributions during her professional journey were marked by her cheerful demeanor and her eagerness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Her devotion extended beyond her career; Paulene was known for her nurturing spirit and her ability to ensure that everyone around her felt cared for. She had a remarkable gift for making those she loved feel valued. Her family often recalls her willingness to give the shoes off her feet, embodying what it meant to be selfless and supportive.
Paulene leaves behind her two daughters, Dawn (Jeff) Parsons and Kim (George) Charby, who will forever remember her warmth and wisdom. She is also survived by her cherished aunt, Elizabeth Crockard. She was a proud mother and nana who cherished every moment spent with her family, including her grandchildren: Alexander, Taylor, Richard, and Timothy. Her love knew no bounds, and she always approached life with a non-judgmental and open heart.
Paulene was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard Salman, who passed away in 2020, as well as her parents, Clarence and Christine Sproule, and her brother, John Sproule. Their memories remain alive in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Brock & Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock (519-539-0004).
