Lavigne, Randy William 1990 – 2025

On Sunday, June 22, 2025, Randy William Lavigne of Woodstock heroically gave his life to save his daughter while swimming in Port Burwell, Ontario.

He leaves behind his daughter Lana, parents Beth and Glenn Westendorp, Shawn and Sharon Donnelly, William Lavigne (2008) and Sue. Brother to: Robert, William, Gregory, Hannah (2017) and Joel, Vincent (Courtney), Eric and Shane, Jolie, Will Jay and Mira Kole. Grandson to Dave Radford, June Radford (2022), Mike and Sharon (2011) Utting, Glen (2022) and Deb Donnelly, Ed (2018) and Lynne Westendorp. Nephew to Maria (Wayne), Phil (Robin), Dana Lynne (John), and Joy (Rob). He has several cousins in Woodstock and Orillia, and spent a lot of time with Mikey and Jacob. He will also be missed by extended family, many friends, and colleagues.

The depth of his love for Lana was evident no matter the situation, and she was always his first priority. Randy’s absence will be felt by everyone who knew him, especially those closest to him. We cannot imagine life without him, and he will be forever and deeply missed and loved. Randy was always willing to help if he could and made work and life fun.

We could go on, but we had talked about it before, and he was fine with people saying nice things, but he didn’t want to be portrayed as ‘all good’. In his words, “Make sure people know I could be a real jerk sometimes too”. Special thanks to Jacob and Sammy, who were with him at the beach and took such good care of Lana through the ordeal.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Brock & Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave, Woodstock (519-539-0004) on Sunday, June 29, 2025, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. For those who wish, memorial contributions to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family
