Passed away peacefully at Woodingford Lodge on May 26, 2025, at the age of 64. Lovingly referred to as “The Schwab” by his friends and family, it is with heavy hearts, we celebrate the life and mourn the loss of Bob, after his brave and courageous battle with cancer. He never once gave up hope in his fight.
He was the beloved brother of Verne (Nancy), Ken and Mike (Sue - 2024), He is predeceased by his parents Frank (1987) and Marguerite (2001) Kean. Bob was also a loving Uncle to his many nieces and nephews and he will be remembered by them fondly. Bob was also fortunate to have the unconditional support from his friends Murray and Jim, in his time of need.
Bob was a devoted “Father” to his fur-baby, Missy and he loved all four legged pets. He was lovingly referred to as “Uncle Treaty” by any family pets who knew him well enough to know that he always carried dog treats in his pockets.
Bob was a die hard (and long-suffering) Leafs fan, as well as an avid Blue Jays fan, and he never missed a game on TV. Bob was active in various sports growing up in Woodstock and he will be remembered by many for his time playing Fastball and later, playing Slow Pitch. He was a collector of LP’s and he spent many hours listening to all different genres of music—with Heavy Rock being his favourite. He was quite often heard saying “turn it up” to a good song, or quickly naming a band that was playing on the radio.
Bob had two significant careers, starting with Fisher Controls, where he worked for 17 years, until its closure, and where he made many lifelong friends. Subsequently, he joined Scott Bus Lines, to work with his brother, Verne. Bob worked in Maintenance, but also filled in as their “best ever” Spare School Bus Driver when called upon, because of his uncanny ability to master and memorize every bus route, with little concern and virtually no notice. He was affectionately called “Otto Schwabby” by the children who rode on his school bus, due to his similar resemblance and demeanor to the school bus driver character, Otto, from the TV show “The Simpsons.”
Bob’s family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Aaron Regis and to the Palliative Care Team at WGH, for all of the kindness and care they provided to him over the last year to ensure he was comfortable.
In keeping with Bob’s wishes, a private family service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the London Humane Society to honour Bob’s memory.
