Robert Alan Gilchrist, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2023, at Woodstock Hospital after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on October 27, 1957, in Woodstock, Ontario, Alan lived a life marked by creativity, kindness, and selflessness.

Alan was a devoted son to his mother, Dolly, and a loving brother to Ron. He was also a cherished uncle to his niece, Marie, and nephew, Tom. Throughout his life, Alan was a supportive and caring family member, always putting the needs of others before his own. His generosity and compassion will be deeply missed by those who knew him.

Alan's dedication and hard work were evident in his professional life as well. He spent forty years working at Holland Hitch, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. His colleagues admired his ability to find creative solutions to problems and his willingness to go above and beyond in his role.

In addition to his career, Alan had a passion for model trains. His love for this hobby was infectious, and he inspired many others to join him in exploring the world of miniature railroads. Alan's creative spirit was evident in the intricate and detailed layouts he designed, which were admired by fellow enthusiasts and newcomers alike.

Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Alan's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society and may arrange their donation through the Brock and Visser Funeral Home (519-539-0004).  Expressions of love and sympathy may be placed and viewed online at www.brockandvisser.com
