Bob died on June 19, 2026, having lived 87 fulfilling years. On September 11, 1965, Bob married the love of his life and soul mate, Doris Ann Klein. They were married 60 wonderful years. He was very proud of his Sons, Daughters-in-law and Grandsons and so looked forward to being in their homes and their visits, especially his ‘special handshake’ with each Grandson.
Bob was born on February 22, 1939, in Kincardine, Ontario. He is predeceased by his Father, Walter (1991); Walter worked at the Andrew Malcolm Furniture Co. Ltd. for over 45 years and his mother, Amelia (1985); who had many years in retail, switchboard operator at Bruce Municipal (10 years) and finally was town Librarian for 9 years. Bob is also predeceased by his Brother and Sister-in-Law Chris (2000) and Muriel Hopf (2020).
Bob is survived by his wife Doris. Bob and Doris have two wonderful Sons: Richard (Monse Villanueva) living in Toronto and Rob (Doris Peter) living in Dundas. Bob and Doris are equally proud of their two Grandsons Fernando and Ethan. Bob is also survived by Brother and Sister-in-Laws Elaine and Claude Field, Doreen and Hugh Schmidt, and nieces and nephews.
Bob, as a public schooler, delivered Toronto Star papers. Then in high school worked 3 summers at Malcolm’s furniture factory before he began working for Johnson’s IGA Food Store in 1956 in Earl Wilson’s Meat Department as a Meat Cutter. After graduating from Kincardine District High School, he worked as Clerk, Meat Manager and Store Manager for various IGA stores in Southwestern Ontario. In 1969 Bob joined Loeb Inc. (London) as an area Meat Supervisor and then Store Supervisor. Bob was promoted to Regional Director of Retail Operations for Southwestern Ontario, spending the next 24 years in that capacity. Bob received many Company and industry awards and the Loeb Award of Excellence twice. He retired in 1996 at age 57.
After retirement, the Woodstock-Oxford Men’s Probus Club was also a cherished time, and he served and chaired various committees and served as Club Secretary for 13 years.
He was initiated into Oxford Masonic Lodge 76 GRC in 1975; installed Worshipful Master in 1986, served as Treasurer for many years and appointed Grand Steward in 1999, later receiving his 50-year Masonic Pin in 2025; initiated into The Woodstock Lodge of Perfection in 1977 and Centennial Chapter Rose Croix in 1988.
St. David’s United Church, however, was a lifelong commitment to his faith; since joining in 1967. During his time at St. David, he served almost to the end on various Church Elder/Council Committees, then at various times as Treasurer, Council Chair, Trustee, Envelope Recorder and was a regular at the monthly St. David’s Men’s Breakfasts (and eventually Zoom meetings).
Bob had many other diverse interests not the least of which were his dear Family, Men’s VON Workouts since 2005, photography, genealogy, helping in the kitchen at home, the St. David‘s Team at the Adelaide Soup Bowl (24 years), VON Meals On Wheels, golf at Innerkip Highlands for over 40 years, travel (many trips, countries, tours, trains, cruises, condos and resorts), eating out every Friday night for about 55 years (Bob and Doris could never decide where, so they drew the restaurant each week out of area restaurant names in a bowl), sudoku, wordle and canuckle, gossip over coffee, Coro, Leafs, Jays and swapping jokes with his online family, friends and Loeb buddies… all in all it’s been a very good run, lots to be proud of and no regrets …
A funeral service to celebrate Bob’s life will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Avenue, Woodstock, Ontario, N4S 8Z4. Visitations will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and just prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. A reception with lunch will follow the service, and all who knew and loved Bob are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to St. David’s United Church.
