Ruth Gisela Katz, born on August 9, 1935, in Germany, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026, at Woodstock Hospital.

Alongside her late husband, Karl Katz, who preceded her in death in 2021, Ruth co-owned a beloved cake shop that delighted many. Their shared passion for creating sweet memories through their bakery brought joy not only to their customers but also strengthened the bond they shared throughout the years.

She is survived by her daughters, Monika Lindlau and Susen (Bruce) Buchanan; her grandchildren Karl (Courtney), Heinz, Joe, Kathy, Tony, Mike (Krystal), Ali (Jason), Carly, Holly, Britt, Jenn, and many beloved great-grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends will lovingly remember Ruth.

Ruth's life was a true testament to resilience and adaptability. She moved frequently throughout her life, each new place bringing opportunities to forge connections and spread joy. An avid gardener, Ruth found solace and happiness in nurturing her plants, which flourished under her care just as her relationships did.

Cremation has taken place, and a graveside service will be held in the spring at Hillview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Woodstock Hospital would be greatly appreciated.

Ruth’s engaging personality made her a cherished friend and family member. She brought great joy to those she met, always ready with a smile and a kind word. She now leaves behind a legacy of love and friendship that will continue to inspire her loved ones.
