Ryan Christopher Jenkin

It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Ryan on December 1st, at the age of 43. He lived the past 20 years on his terms after a traumatic brain injury changed his life forever. Ryan's world was cut too short after a prolonged seizure caused a cardiac arrest while he was walking home from a job he loved. We hope that he was thinking about the great day he had and where he would be walking his best friend, Colby, when he got home.

Growing up, Ryan was very active in sports playing rep hockey in the winter with soccer and lacrosse in the summer. Although removed from playing sports after his injury, he was still a fan. Ryan would walk 5 to 7kms a day with Colby by his side for at least 4 of those kms, just to keep in shape. He loved the outdoors. His smile could light up a room and he loved a good laugh. He was kind, generous and a romantic.

Such devastating sorrow has been brought to our family but we move forward in knowing that a part of Ryan lives on in others through organ donation. There is also comfort in knowing that Colby will continue to be by his side for an eternity.
